SyncBackSE Upgrade Policy

Post by mike »

Upgrades are free for SyncBackSE. This means, for example, when SyncBackSE V4 is released, you can upgrade free-of-charge from SyncBackSE V3.

Upgrades from SyncBackSE to SyncBackPro will be in line with our fair and reasonable pricing policy. Educational Institutions and Non Profit Organizations will receive the appropriate discount on their upgrade to SyncBackPro dependant on their Licensing Level (ENP1, ENP2, etc.).

Note: The remaining section of this post was edited on 05 August 2008.

This post was originally made in February 2005. The development of SyncBackPro was more challenging than anticipated. We therefore continued to provide free upgrades to all SyncBackSE licensees who enjoyed significant improvements to the program without charge - this included a major upgrade from version 3 to version 4. Many of the changes where envisioned for SyncBackPro, however we wanted to continue to provide the improvements for our customers while at the same time working on SyncBackPro.

Take a look at the changes we made between February 2005 (SyncBack/SE Version 3.2.7) and July 2008 (SyncBackSE V4.5.16.0) which follow below.

During February 2005 we stated that SyncBackSE licensees would be able to upgrade to SyncBackPro for $10, however that was well over three years ago, and the decision to provide all SyncBackSE with free upgrades rather than charging resulted in a change of pricing policy.

As of this date (August 2008) a full license for SyncBackPro will cost $49.95, and a license for a SyncBackSE to SyncBackPro upgrade will cost $19.95. We are also pleased to keep to the principle that guarantees the purchase price of SyncBackSE, plus the upgrade cost, will not exceed the price of SyncBackPro.

Lastly, we are very pleased that every SyncBackSE licensee will receive a free update to the next major release in August: SyncBackSE V5!

Kind Regards,

Mike de Sousa

- Complete control over which files & folders to backup and restore.
- Clear & complete control over what to do with changed & new files.
- Powerful regular expression support to filter out (or in) files and directories: files and folders can now be included, or excluded, based on their name by using powerful regular expressions.
- New log file format to clearly show the results of a profile run: the new log file format lets you clearly see which files were copied successfully and which ones failed.
