Log file confusing descriptions

Post by SBF_User »

There's something for years I've never been able to figure out about SyncbackSE.
It does what I want every time but the log files say stuff I can't figure out.

Take this example where I did a mirror sync today from my Laptop drive (Source) to USB drive I: (Dest)
(All my Profiles are Mirror type, I'm only interested in fast backup of the source, I don't do two way sync or version backups.

Now when I did this Mirror Sync there was nothing on the Destination USB but a Recycle Bin and System Volume Information. It was totally empty.
After I ran the Profile, I looked in the log and on the main page I clicked the Ignored category.
It then lists page 2 wherein it lists several folders but I'll just paste one here since they all have the same log display depiction.
-----Ignored category
I:\Net User Stuff\* Does not exist (Destination)
---------------------
Now if you go back to the Log main page, it will say Copied, deleted, renamed, and changed (XXX)

But if I search the Log main page for the folder-> "Net User Stuff" it's not showing anywhere on the page.
So looking at the Log you'd think this folder was not mirrored to the USB.

But if I look in a File Manager it in fact was copied and has the same 4 files in it that the Source does.

It does this for all the folders in the root folder of the USB drive. They're all there, SyncbackSE copied every one of them (that was shown in the Ignored Log Page) including the folders and/or files that were in them.
It was a complete success as a mirror but I'd never know it looking the log.
------
Here's a paste of my mirror settings:
Files will be mirrored from Source (V:\Ndx\Y\1 Install & Setup Apps\Install Apps USB\) to Destination (I:\).
If the same file has been changed on both Source and Destination then the file on Source will replace the file on Destination.
Files only on Source are copied to Destination.
Files only on Destination are deleted.
Empty directories only on Source are created on Destination.
If an empty directory is only on Destination then the decision is automated.
The following files/folders will be ignored: *\$RECYCLE.BIN\,*\RECYCLER\,"*\System Volume Information\",\hiberfil.sys,\pagefile.sys
The profile is stored in C:\Users\Dtm\AppData\Local\2BrightSparks\SyncBack\
--------------------
Files/Folders to copy
*
--------------------
Files/FoldersNOT to copy
*\$RECYCLE.Bin
*\$RECYCLER\
*\$System Volume Information
\hiberfil.sys
\pagefile.sys
-------------------
This has puzzled me many times but it always has the mirrored files that wanted it to do.
What am I misinterpreting about this log readout?
