Multiple Profiles Simultaneously ?

Post by Cain »

Can SBPro execute multiple profiles Simultaneously ?

Or should I have them activate one after another, making certain the first one finished before the second one started?

Thanks!

Didn't see an edit button.

I have four profiles to mirror or do Fast Backup.

The same source directory but being backed up to different OFF-Site NASs or the cloud.

Re editing - see http://www.2brightsparks.com/bb/viewtop ... 18&t=11659

Running multiple profiles at once - almost certainly less efficient. The profiles will spend time fighting each other for disk access and competing for bandwidth, and pausing/waiting their turn rather than actually processing data (especially if they are all accessing the same file-set, which I guess yours would be, on Source at least). Running profiles manually at the same time is equivalent to configuring a Group profile to run in parallel instead of 'sequentially', which is mentioned as 'not recommended' in the Help on creating/using a Group profile > >
Run profiles in parallel: By default, the profiles in a group are run in the order you provide, from first to last. The next profile is started once the previous one finishes. You can choose to have all the profiles in a group run at the same time by enabling this option. It is not recommended you select this option because it will probably increase the time taken to run the profiles and overload your computer, drive, network, memory, etc.

The 4th post in that thread about deletions (the post which the supplied link jumps to / makes 'top of page') is about editing ('not') and the reason why.

Not everyone asks only one question per thread...
