Backup with fies order

Post by movida »

Hello.
First, thank you for your job. Your software is very good !

... but i need two features :

1)Is there a way to backup files in a certain order (example : starting with bigger files or newer files)
I need it to backup first the newest works files to AmazonDrive.

2) Is it possible to speedup profiles with multithreading ?
example :
- multithreading upload to Amazon Drive (or another cloud)
- starting backup of files even if scanning process is not finished.

Thank you a lot !

Hi,
Is there a way to backup files in a certain order (example : starting with bigger files or newer files)
I need it to backup first the newest works files to AmazonDrive.
There is no inherent feature in SyncBackPro to backup files in a certain order. However, you can achieve this by creating two profiles.

- First profile to ignore older files and backup only newer files created/modified after certain date

- Second profile to ignore newer files created/modified after certain date and backup older files

To ignore files based on their last modification or creation date/time stamps of the files you have to configure the option:

Ignore files that [have/have not]
been modified and/or created [within the last] XX [seconds/minutes/hours/days/weeks/months/years] OR [since] [calendar date][calendar time]

under:

Modify Profile > Expert Mode > Compare Options > Date & Time settings page

By tweaking the settings [have/have not] in combination with [within the last/since], you would be able to set conditions to ignore (or only look for) files that were (or not) modified within a certain date range, e.g. within the last x days, or since January 1st 2016 (example).

Additional note about Days setting - Fractional days do not count. For example, if a file was modified 2 days, 13 hours, 31 minutes, and 32 seconds ago, and you want to ignore files that have been modified within the last 2 days, then it will ignore the file, i.e. the hours, minutes, and seconds are not used in the comparison.

You could also get fine-grained control by setting the Ignore value to [hours or minutes] instead. For example, [360 hours or 12600 minutes.]

Bear in mind that the field value only accepts ranges of 0 - 65535 units.

I would suggest you to read the Help file for more details. With Compare Options > Date & Time settings page opened, press F1 to open the contextual Help file for more details.

You can setup the condition based on the Last Modified and/or Creation date properties of the file and exclude/ignore files that are not required. If both modification and creation date are turned on, then a file will be ignored if either condition is satisfied. Bear in mind files can have different Creation and Last Modified date stamps.

Finally, you can perform a Simulated Run and check the Differences window closely and modify the configuration to suit your requirement.
Is it possible to speedup profiles with multithreading ? multithreading upload to Amazon Drive (or another cloud)
Sorry, but multi-threading is not supported when uploading files to Amazon Drive. SyncBackPro supports multi-threading when uploading/downloading files to the cloud services that support threaded access. for example: Amazon S3, Azure etc.,.
starting backup of files even if scanning process is not finished.
Considering certain aspects on the way the program is implemented and functioning, it's not possible to backup files without completing the scan phase.

Thank you.
