OVH OpenStack

Post by jmogez »

Hi,
I try to use SynBackPro v8 with OVH OpenStack and it does not work. May be I don't fill correctly the Service URL field in the cloud detail configuration.
In the help, concerning the Service URL, it's mentionned : If you are using OpenStack then you must enter the services Identity V2 URL (the authorization URL).
Could you give an example of this Service URL knowing that the OVH autorithy server is : auth.cloud.ovh.net
Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Have you received the reply on the same subject from the support team (sent a couple of hours ago)?

Thanks,

Hi,
Yes, I have received this reply "OVH requires authentication using username and password combination but SyncBackPro currently supports a username & appKey combination, hence it is not supported" but I don't understand why I can access to OVH with Cyberduck with a swift profile and it's not possible with SynBackPro. I suppose the url I use is not in the good format. In the help, it's mentionned "If you are using OpenStack then you must enter the services Identity V2 URL (the authorization URL)". How is build this service Identity V2 URL ?
Thanks

Hi,

The reason why you cannot access it with SyncBackPro is simply because currently we only support authentication with username/apiKey combination (based on Rackspace's implementation). With Cyberduck from what I see in the screenshot you've provided, you supply a tenantID and a password which is a different authentication method. By the way, the URL you are referring is just the Openstack Identity API endpoint which in your case is auth.cloud.ovh.net

There is no point attempting to use it with your version of SyncBackPro since it will not work. More news on this later.

Thanks,
Kostas

Hi,
I conclude that SynBackPro is not usable with the openstack standard, which is regretable.
Thanks.
