Hola,
I'm using SyncBack to (also) sync between two remote PCs via FTP. They both have pretty fast up/download speeds, but its really slow because of how the destination PC has to look up all the files (400k+) one by one remotely (FTP is not really made for this). Is there any other current way/method that would be faster?
It would be really great to have a feature where eg. local SB and remote SB would each perform indexing locally, and then would only share/compare the index files...

Hi,
SyncBackPro V8 supports multi-threading when scanning files on an FTP server (i.e. multiple connections to scan FTP server). You can configure this option under:
Modify > FTP > Advanced > Scan Threads setting
This option reduces the scan time when you have multiple folders on your FTP server (but it will not improve performance when scanning the contents of a single folder). Please read the help file for more details about this option. With FTP > Advanced settings page opened, press F1 to open the contextual help for more details.
Thank you.

Re: Most efficient way to sync two remote pc?
Thanks, this really is faster! But... a bug is also introduced. Seemingly after a few thousand files scanned the queries on all threads from SyncBack just stop. The server sees that no action is taken by the SB client for minutes (and thus the connection times out). On SB client it just says "server disconnected" and this status stays remains endlessly, with the progress bar looping. The server is the newest Filezilla Server.

Update: after 20 or so minutes the queries continue, only to time out in a similar fashion after half a minute again.
