Prompt for variable value on profile start

Post by kullboys »

Hello everyone
Is there a way to get SyncBackPro to prompt/ask me for the value of a profile variable every time the profile is run? I'm trying to set up a profile which allows me to choose a folder under a defined path to sync (without changing settings each time).

The use case is to allow me to copy a subset of my photos to/from my laptop (as there isn't space for all of them), where the subset to copy will change depending on what I'm working on.
Thanks.

HI, instead of using variables you could pass the source or destination path via the command line (see help file for details), so the prompt could be done via a batch file or other program before SyncBackPro is called. Alternatively, you could also use scripting in SyncBackPro to set the variable.

Hi, also forgot to mention that SyncBack has a Windows Shell Extension which you could also use (see the help file for details). That way you can select a folder in Windows File Explorer and use that as the source or destination. Thanks.
