Versioning with a single compressed file

Post by Ulf »

Hi, I just bought SynyBackPro and I have to say, so far I am very impressed! Great piece of software! I intend to use SyncBackPro to backup a folder via SFTP to an off-site NAS. For the intended purpose, it is essential, that the backup on the NAS ist encrypted in a way that makes it impossible to even view file names and details. Therefore I chose to have the backup written to a single compressed file. I would like keep at least three versions of the backup - e.g. in case some ransomeware corrupted my files and the lastest version of the backup as well. However combining versioning with a backup to single compressed file seems not to be possible. Is there maybe another option how I could achieve what I aim for? Thanks in advance for any advice! :xmas)

Hi, the easiest way would be to use variables in the Zip filename. For example, Backup%DAYOFWEEK%.zip

The help file has a list of all the variables available. Alternatively, you can create your own variable via scripting. See the IncVarEx example script.
