Best settings for OneDrive sync

Post by languageservicesco »

Hi. I have been trying to find a good solution for syncing my files with OneDrive. The OneDrive sync isn't appropriate for my needs, so I have evaluated one program, but that didn't do the job. I am now looking at this software. Having spent a lot of time before trying to find the right settings, and then finding they didn't do what I wanted, I wondered if anybody here could make some recommendations.

I am looking for a setup where changes on my PC are reflected on OneDrive as quickly as possible. This will be the normal situation, i.e. most of the time I will be working on the PC and changes will happen there. But sometimes I will be travelling and then changes will happen on OneDrive. When I get back, I want these changes to be reflected on the PC as soon as possible. It is this aspect that I am uncertain about. I assume setting the real time setting will deal with the left to right syncing, but is there any way I can make the right to left, i.e. cloud to PC happen relatively automatically and reliably?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You can create an Intelligent Sync profile in SyncBackPro to sync files (copy and delete files) in both directions (from source to destination and destination to source). Please read the Help file > Quick Start > Understanding Backup and Synchronization > Synchronize (Intelligent) for more details on Intelligent Sync profile.

Note as an Intelligent Sync profile copy and delete files in both directions, I suggest performing Simulated Run and check the Differences window closely to understand the list of files/folders that will be copied or deleted during the actual run.

Thank you.

Thanks for your response. I have set up a new profile, which, according to the Help file, will automatically be an intelligent profile. However, I am finding this profile does not run. It was set up over a week ago to run daily at 10 am. It is also set to run on after file changes on the left side. It is saying that it has never run. I am probably making a beginner's mistake, but I can't see what it might be.

Hi,
It seems to have started running now. However, it has raised a further query on this subject. I have it set up to run at 10am every day, which it now seems to be doing. However, it is also set to run on a file change. The trouble is, rather than just syncing the changed file, it seems to do a complete scan. Again, I assume I am doing something wrong, but I can't see what. Any ideas? Thanks.
