Hi, have you enabled the option to detect case renames? See Decisions->Files and scroll to the bottom.

thanks for the tip.

but the current default behavior of "do nothing" doesn't make sense for this, and i think it is a bad idea. the normal expected default behavior is to have them sync, because letter case changes are important and need to be preserved. otherwise, the items are not perfectly synced. can you update these to default in the next version?

Hi, having the default of "Do nothing" may be what you want, but keep in mind we have thousands of other users as well, and for many of them they simply don't care. People rarely change the case of their files or folders. Tracking the case changes uses extra memory and may degrade performance, which is why it's off by default.

does tracking letter case changes really use that much more ram? today, modern 64 bit computers have multiple GB of ram. and large amounts of ram is cheap. if most people rarely change the letter case of their items, then the changes are rarely tracked into ram, and it will rarely consume more ram.

i think you should update the default to be more modern, and to be a more normal expected default behavior. to ensure people preserve their letter case edits. otherwise, it would be a very bad surprise to people who didn't realize this bad default behavior, and consequently lost all their letter case edits if they ever need to restore from backup.

i think a majority of people would care about this, much more than you imagine.

Hi, SyncBack isn't (yet) 64-bit, so is limited to 2GB. We have customers who have millions of files. There are two sides to every feature being enabled or not.

can you at least prominently present this option at the profile creation screens, so that users can be consciously aware of deciding if they want it or not?

"sync item name letter case changes"
