How to ensure *correct* drive is mounted before backup?

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

How to ensure *correct* drive is mounted before backup?

Post by lphilpot »

I have an external USB drive (D:) as the destination for some scheduled backups from my laptop. I also have SyncBack automatically starting with my laptop and the jobs are set to run immediately when SyncBack starts if they failed at the scheduled time. It works great but I ran into an issue just now.

I'm away from home and the external drive is not connected. So the jobs just failed, no problem. However, when I plugged in my camera's SD card to download photos, it mounted as D: and SyncBack started backing up to it.

Is there a way to watermark or ID-tag the correct destination drive so that it, and only it, is used as a backup target? I realize I could set them not to start if the scheduled time is missed, which would be a partial workaround, but not a fix.

Thanks.

SyncBackFree includes a whole range of variables that can be used in various profile settings, e.g. the Source and Destination. Variables are values which are not known until the profile is run. At runtime the variables are replaced by their value.

Suggest you click on Help and enter "variables" to search for, then look at those available such as %HWSERIAL=?% .
