log is now replaced by pages of web news

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

log is now replaced by pages of web news

Post by jmor89 »

I used to be a frequent and happy user of SyncBackFree and am now restarting to use it.
Never had a problem with the log, which was always extremely useful, and of easy access (right click on the name of the profile)
Now, I see that a log file has been stored with my backup, but it only contains pages of news instead, apparently from Microsoft Edge Copilot.
I changed the location of the log, same behavior.
I also disabled the option 'Show Copilot' hoping that Copilot would stop filling those pages. No success.
I could'nt find any reference to this type of issue in the forum.

I am really interested in resolving this, as this software loses a lot of its value without a log. I hope someone could point to some kind of solution or workaround.
BTW: I am on Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045), running SyncBackFree V11.3.16.0 (32-bit) (Not elevated)
Thanks.

PS:
Actually, even older html logs now open as web news pages. Don't know where the content is.
I also changed from html log to text log. That one seems to work, although I am missing all information about the size of the files. 2BrightSparks claim the text format is more difficult to read, but offers more information. I didn't think so.

Re: log is now replaced by pages of web news - FOUND SOLUTION

Post by jmor89 »

For whoever is interested:
The problem occurred as I was letting windows decide which browser would open the log file, i.e. when asking to view the log for the profile from the application, or when clicking directly on the log file.
When I tried to use a different browser, in my case Firefox, by using 'Open with...', and selecting Firefox, I found my log.
Now, I assigned Firefox to all html files. No problem any more.
Relief!
