Long startup time Version 7.0.32.0

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Post by gogreen »

I bet this has question has been asked before. Why does this latest version, and several previous versions, take so long to start up?

Thanks.

not really. My own copy is pretty much instantaneous during startup. How many profiles do you have within SyncBack?

I don't recall previous users reporting slow startup times either.

Please state your Windows version, CPU processor and RAM ?

Hi, we have users with much more profiles than that and have never heard any feedback that startup is slow.

Is it possible that there may be some third party programs within your PC that may be interferring/scanning the system (or SyncBack) contributing to the slowdown? For example, AV, Anti Malware and/or cleanup programs, etc?

If the issue persists, suggest either install SBFree onto another machine to test/compare the startup time and reinstall SBFree if required.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials in the background. No other security or cleanup programs are running in the background, although I do use them--CCleaner and Glary Utilities, mainly. I might install SBFree on another machine and see what happens, and perhaps uninstall and reinstall. Thanks.

Hi, after some investigation we found a way to reduce the startup time. In our tests it originally took 2.4 seconds to start with 150 profiles. After making some optimization changes we reduced our startup time to 1.3 seconds. Obviously all the times depend on the computers configuration so the improvement may be more or less depending on your setup.

These improvements will be included in the next release. No ETA on a release date yet as we've only just released a new version, but there'll probably be a beta release in the coming days.

The startup time about which I was initially concerned was 15 seconds or so.

Hi, 15 seconds is far too long. Have you tried adding the SyncBack EXE to the exceptions list in MSE?

I also have this problem.
1st time startup is 40+ seconds
Then each start is about 1 second after that.
I have added SyncBackFree.exe to the exceptions list in MSE. That is as it is in my shortcut.
That did not alter the problem.
I have 5 profiles all of which are working properly

Any clues?

Funny thing though this morning after machine boot up I tested Syncbackfree and it started quickly i.e. normally.
Seems that the problem is intermittent, maybe something else besides MSE is affecting it?
So my current version works OK - sometimes.

No I am using .30.0 etc
I will update it anyway.
