Capability to disable automatic backup when network disk are not acessible?

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Capability to disable automatic backup when network disk are not acessible?

Post by ldecloedt »

Hello,
First, I woudl like to say that SyncBack is a very nice tool and does a very good job.
I would like to know whether it is possible to have automatic backups disabled when network disks are not accessible. Indeed, in my organization, the network disks can be accessed only when I am at the office or connected to a VPN. I already disabled automatic backups when I am offline. The tricky situation however is when I am connected to the network but did not connected to the VPN. In this case, SyncBack desperately attempts to do backups and it is very difficult to make it stop. Then, many things can be messed-up as files are locked for writing, the PC can get slow. I can even go into situations where I cannot log anymore.
I think this is a pretty common situation is a professional context.

Regards,
Loïc.

Hi,

It may not be much of a help, since you are using SyncBackFree, but in SyncBackPro/SE you can set your profile to silently fail if the source/destination cannot be reached through the network, drive does not exist, or there is no disk.

Thanks,
Kostas

Hi Kostas,
Thank you for the information. It is at least good to know that this has been taken into account, even if not available in the free version.

Regards,
Loïc.
