Capitalization difference in folder names

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Capitalization difference in folder names

Post by 1DumSpark »

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if there is a setting available that will resolve this.

I created copies of a profile and set each copy to run on a different set of folders. If all files were identical on the source and destination, no differences window was displayed... exactly what I wanted.

But for one of these profiles, the differences window was always displayed. I learned that some of the differences categories were not shown, and enabling them all revealed a single folder.

But that folder was present on both the source and the destination, so it made no sense. :shock:

Then, on very close inspection, I noticed the folder on the source had two capital letters in part of its name, whereas in the destination, it only had one capital letter.

What I would like, in this situation, is for SyncBackFree to rename the folder in the destination to match the capitalization of the source. That way the source and destination will be truly identical. As a bonus, the differences window will no longer appear.

Upgrade to SE or Pro version, and the options re 'case' (also 'properties') for folders will be available on

Modify profile -> Expert -> Decisions-Files -> Folders -> bottom section

These options are not available in the freeware (they are for files, but not for folders)

That's what confused me: the functionality is there for files, but not for folders. The inconsistency felt like a bug.

Maybe the matching functionality for folders can get included in the free version.

Thank you.
