Way to save multiple versions of files?

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Way to save multiple versions of files?

Post by Robbyell »

Hi all - racking my brains here trying to work out how to save a daily version of a crucial Excel file without having to create multiple folders / Syncback profiles -is there a way of appending the date/time or something to make sure each day's file isn't overwritten by the next?

The idea is that if I accidentally delete a load of data, and don't realise before the main backup is overwritten, I can get back to a fairly recent version.

Thanks, Rob

This is possible by enabling single zip compression and adding %DATE% variable in your destination path. You can refer to this forum post for more details: ... 701#p47701

In addition, please note that there is a feature in SyncBackPro/SE to create version of a file before a file at your Destination is replaced, deleted or moved by the actions of the profile. You can enable Versioning feature under:

Modify > Expert > Copy/Delete > Versioning settings page

Bear in mind SyncBackFree does not support Versioning (only supported in SyncBackPro/SE). I would suggest you to read the Help file for more details on Versioning. With Versioning settings page opened, press F1 to open the contextual help.

If you want you can test SyncBackSE/Pro, which we offer a free 30-day evaluation. You can download and install latest version of SyncBackSE/Pro from here:

If you do decide to purchase, the serial number will convert the 'trial' to the 'registered' version.

Thank you.
