I've set up two backup jobs, but in the job listing one says backup and the other says mirror. I copied the one to create the other, the only difference being the folders from and to. As far as I can see, I have the same options for both.
My goal is to copy from source to destination if a file does not exist in the destination or is changed on the source, and delete any empty folders on the destination.
What is the difference?
How can I change the incorrectly configured job so it is doing what I want it to?
I tried creating a new copy of a backup profile, but I can’t reproduce your issue. Is it possible that you have changed the profile type of the new copy?
To make a copy of a profile, simply select the profile from SyncBackFree’s main-window > press Ctrl-C or right-click on the profile and select ‘Copy’ from the pop-up menu > then give the copy a new name. If you want to change the profile type from Mirror to Backup (or vice versa) then you can do so under:
Modify > Easy > Type settings page
Note that a Backup profile (by default) copies new/changed files from source to destination. To delete empty folders that are present only on destination, configure the option ‘What to do if a directory exists on destination but not on source’ to ‘Delete directory from destination (if empty)’ from:
I believe I did what you suggested. Had everything set up, then did the right click - copy, then modified.
Are there specific settings which determine whether a profile is a sync or a backup I can check? Maybe there is a difference or I have something set wrong.
Also can you briefly explain the difference between a "mirror" profile and a "backup" profile?
I just want to make sure everything is mirrored onto my destination - new files, changed files, deleted files, and folder deletions. Only copy if the files are new or have changed, not to copy things that have not changed (takes too long to copy everything).
It appears I may have found my answer. There is no difference if you've set up advanced options to delete files from the destination that were deleted from the source, even though it says "backup" still on the profile. Do you agree?
I copied a mirror profile, made a few changes to the source and destination folders, and when I saved it changed it from Mirror to Backup. I'm certain the settings are for mirroring. This may be a bug.
