Hi, a Newbie here, but love Syncback, so easy to use and clouds take so long to upload to !
Is there any way I can specify multiple folders in a backup profile please ?
It seems I just have the option of one folder in the source field.
Many thanks...........ebt

Re: Multiple folders in one profile - Newbie
Hi, you did not say whether these multiple folders all reside on the same drive letter (or, a single network share, or a single FTP server path), but if they do, then the first few posts in this topic will hopefully help.
Note that this isn't supported for multiple folders that are located on multiple different drive letters, whereby you'd need one of the commercial versions (if it is possible at all). Exactly which commercial version you might be able to use would depend on exactly what you are trying to do, which you'd need to supply more background about.
Note that no version can support addressing multiple file servers (e.g. NAS, other PCs) nor multiple file-shares, nor multiple FTP (etc) servers as the Source (or, Destination) of a single profile. These would need multiple profiles (one per Source 'entity'), optionally in a Group, which the Free version also supports. You can run (Schedule, etc.) a Group to run all the member profiles, by default consecutively (recommended).

Re: Multiple folders in one profile - Newbie
Thanks for such a quick reply cliffhanger.
The folders are all on the same drive letter, my laptops C drive.
However, when setting up a profile in syncback free, the "source" only allows a single folder
So I have set up multiple profiles, one for each folder.

Re: Multiple folders in one profile - Newbie
Hi, as per the link I gave you to the other thread, you can do this in one profile by setting your Source to C:\ (you can do this part in the New Profile wizard during creation of a profile, or by right-click profile name > Modify > Simple on an existing profile). Then on the Simple settings page (if open already; if not, open it...), use the Choose Subdirectories and Files button to open a tree dialog which allows you to specify which of the folders on C you want (or, which ones you do not want, however you prefer to think of it).
There is also a mechanism for deciding what you want to happen if any new folders appear on (in the above case) C:\ - that is, whether to auto-Include them or to Ignore them. The default is to Include. Press F1 with the Choose dialog open for contextual Help.
If you have many folders to specify (or, 'unspecify', for a narrowly-focused profile) then it can be faster to untick the topmost/leftmost checkbox in the Choose dialog tree (to de-select all folders) then re-tick just the folders you want.
But yes, using separate profiles will also work. Bear in mind the same mechanism that decides what to do if new sub-folders and/or files appear in your 'drilled-down' Source(s) exists in the multiple profiles too, as per above, with the default being (as usual) 'Include' unless you intervene to change that.
