Backup Files Only

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Backup Files Only

Post by powlaz »

How do I backup a .log file from a folder with a randomly generated named to another folder?

Every day one of my systems creates a folder with a randomly generated name and puts a .log file in it.

Example:
C:\Logs\gasdrfgyt8\perflog_20180124.log
C:\Logs\q3g8h0293t\perflog_20180125.log

The only thing that doesn't change from day-to-day is the extension (.log) of the file that is created.

I want only the log files from C:\Logs\ to be copied to D:\WeeklyLogBackup but Syncback isn't doing this for me. Instead every folder that contains a .log file is backed up to D:\WeeklyLogBackup.

Example: (what I'm doing:)
C:\Logs\gasdrfgyt8\perflog_20180124.log --> D:\WeeklyLogBackup\gasdrfgyt8\perflog_20180124.log

Example: (what I want:)
C:\Logs\gasdrfgyt8\perflog_20180124.log --> D:\WeeklyLogBackup\perflog_20180124.log

Per Syncback's instructions my filters are:
*\
*\*.log

I've also tried:
*\
*.log

Help!

Thanks,

MJ

Hi,

Do you want to copy *.log files from different sub-folders on source (C:\Logs\) to the destination root folder (D:\WeeklyLogBackup\,without copying the sub-folder)? If yes, please note that 'Folder flattening' is not supported in a version of SyncBack. Please read this KB article for more details:

http://support.2brightsparks.com/knowle ... flattening

Thank you.
