Files flagged as potentially dangerous, but they're not

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Files flagged as potentially dangerous, but they're not

Post by cbiweb »

The error log is showing this message for three files:
Failed to copy from Source : Cannot copy file (225): Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software
The files are definitely not a virus, and they are definitely wanted. :)

Is there a way to tell SyncBack that they're safe?

Most likely it is a false positive in your virus program. Try excluding the files there.

This is SyncBack telling me the files are risky, not my virus program (Windows Defender), which has never flagged those files, nor the program they are part of. In the past Defender has alerted me to risky files as they were being backed up by SyncBack, so I'm confident it would have done the same for this issue.

It seem to be SyncBack specific.

Have you possibly run Malwarebytes in the past? It leaves background processes running unless you specifically prevent them.
Don't think SyncBackFree has virus detection capability.

Out of curiosity, did you resolve this? This recently happened to me as well.

Hi, this is Windows stating it contains a virus and SyncBack is simply returning the error message from Windows. SyncBack does not scan for viruses. Go to Windows Security and see "Virus & threat protection" to see the files and why they are blocked by Windows. You can unblock them there:
