Configure backup profile to ignore all folders with a certain name?

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Configure backup profile to ignore all folders with a certain name?

Post by cagross »

My source has several folders, and some of them contain a folder with the name `node_modules`. Is there a way to configure my backup profile to skip _any_ folder with this name?

The motivation for this is that these folders are relatively large in-size, and they are not needed in my backup.

OS: Windows 10.

Thanks in advance.

Modify your profile and then on the Simple tab click on "Change Filter" then under "Files/folders NOT to copy" click on Add and enter *\node_modules\ then click on OK.

Ok thanks for that. But sorry, just to be clear, will that ignore all folders named `node_modules`, regardless of folder hierarchy? Or will it ignore only those folders in the top level of my source? I wasn't 100% clear in my original post, but I'm hoping for the former.

Will ignore all folders named `node_modules`. Run a simulation to see what it will do.

OK right, now I see the * in your suggestion--so I can now see that this should indeed match any folder with that name. I overlooked it earlier.

And yes, I forgot about the simlation too.

Thanks!
