Files in excluded directory are still being copied

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Files in excluded directory are still being copied

Post by diamondmx »

My setup initially included C:\ProgramData (a mistake)
I have since unchecked that folder in 'Choose sub-directories and files', and all subfolders are unchecked as a result.
But some contents of that folder are still being copied on each run, and some of those files fail because they're locked by running programs.

I can't figure out how to tell SyncBackFree to stop trying to copy these files and folders.
I've deleted the destination files, I've run it several times after unchecking the folders, the folders are even excluded with "*\ProgramData\" in the filter list, but it keeps trying to copy the files and failing.

I've seen this in other places too, it seems like the checkbox in 'Choose sub-directories and files' doesn't work as expected, and it will often still copy those files.

I understand the frustration you're experiencing with SyncBackFree not behaving as expected, despite excluding certain folders. It can be incredibly frustrating when software doesn't adhere to our desired settings. To troubleshoot the issue, I recommend ensuring you have the latest version of SyncBackFree installed and double-checking the accuracy of your folder exclusions in the filter list. Additionally, clearing temporary files, restarting your computer, and reviewing advanced settings may help. If these steps don't resolve the problem, reaching out to SyncBackFree support or consulting their user forums could provide further assistance. Remember that software issues can be complex, and I hope these suggestions help you achieve the desired outcome with SyncBackFree.
