Failed to copy Source: Cannot copy file (23): Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Failed to copy Source: Cannot copy file (23): Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

Post by Guy77 »

Hello there,

I would need yor help on the following :

I am using SyncBackFree for many years and have always be full happy of its simplness and effectiveness to save my files on a dayly or weekly basis.

I am running SyncBackFree V11.3.7.0 (32bits) on a Windows 11 Pro 64bits 23H2 build 22631.3296.

Since two days, I am very disapointed because I receive error messages when making my usual back-up.

Here is the error message :

"Failed to copy Source: Cannot copy file (23): Data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

I am running SyncBacFree in French,so my message is:
"Echec lors de la copie de Source : Ne peut pas copier le fichier (23): Erreur de données (contrôle de redondance cyclique)".

Let me explain how I get it :

I use the same profils for years with no errors. They are all of the same type : infact I created of profil which meets my need and every time I need a new one, I just copy it and update its name, source and destination nformation...

One thing is strange to me,

my internal saving ar still working with no error. Ex some directories from my C: drive saved on another internal drive. (When running, it gives no error, number of copied files is the same as the original, total file size is the same on source and on destination)

But since two days, First, I get this error, always the same, second, mostly on images files (jpeg) or movies (.mov , .m2ts) I get this error message.

I went to my original files and I was able to open them, so they don't seem to be corrupted.

To give you an exemple, on a directory which contains 49620 images (336Go), I get 124 files in error. It may seems small, but in term of backup, it is for me a urge problem, its a loss of reliability and the loss of confidence in your so realiable software.

I wanted to attach one of my failing profile in this message, but the extenton .sps is "unknown"...

I attach you a screen capture of one failing profile, sorry it is in French.

Do not hesitate to get back to me if you have any question (and if you can explain me how to join an .sps file).

Thank you very much,

Guy.

Just one line to tell you that I have zipped the profile I was referring to, so now I can attach it to my topic. :)

Guy.
