mirror backup, but except files with specific extension?

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

mirror backup, but except files with specific extension?

Post by llagos »

Hi,

I've got several profiles, all of them run fine, usually a complete mirror. However, now I need to create a simpler/modified version of one of them. I need to mirror a source directory to a target destination, with all files except some specific extensions, which I don't need on the backup, but I do need them still on the source.
A few examples:
- Games, where I need to backup all except ".his" files, which are high scores, or ".png" files, which are snapshots
- Adobe catalogs, all must be mirrored, except thumbnails files, which I don't need in a backup
- Music, where I just need to backup the files (mp3, aac, etc.), but not the playlist ".pls"
- etc.

So, I've looked at the options all the tabs, but simply couldn't find any way of doing this...

Is it possible?

thanks a lot,

Regards,

Click on "Change Filter" on the "Simple" tab then add */*.his on the right under "Files/Folders not to copy" plus all other files you want to not copy.

Sorry that should be *\*.his with a backslash.

thanks... I guess the \ doesn't mean that only files at the first level of the tree structure will be copied? I have files under many subdirs..

I'll give it a try!
