Certain files under a Windows Junction are not being backed up

SyncBackFree is the freeware version of SyncBack. It is *not* an evaluation version of SyncBackPro/SE.

Certain files under a Windows Junction are not being backed up

Post by alexsheppard11 »

Hi,
I have Syncback profile to perform the backup of an entire drive. The drive contains image files as well as a Windows Junction to a folder on an SSD containing my Adobe Lightroom catalog. Every week, Lightroom prompts if I want to create a backup of the catalog and what it does it simply zip up the singular catalog file and put it in a directory called 'Backups' alongside the catalog.

After switched to v9 (9.2.12.0), my Syncback log contains:
20:43:06 \Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A\Backups\2019-10-27 2147\Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A.lrcat.zip Only in Source
20:43:06 \Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A\Backups\2019-11-03 2226\Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A.lrcat.zip Only in Source
20:43:06 \Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A\Backups\2019-11-11 2123\Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A.lrcat.zip Only in Source
20:43:06 \Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A\Backups\2019-11-18 2146\Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A.lrcat.zip Only in Source
20:43:06 \Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A\Backups\2019-11-25 2207\Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A.lrcat.zip Only in Source
20:43:06 \Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A\Backups\2019-12-05 1353\Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A.lrcat.zip Only in Source
20:43:06 \Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A\Backups\2019-12-12 2218\Lightroom 7 Catalog 6A.lrcat.zip Only in Source
Any suggestions as to why these zip files are not being backed up by Syncback? The rest of the files within the junction have been backed up. The 'Ignore junction points' setting is unticked.

If I copy then across manually and then run profile, the profile completes and doesn't make any changes.

Further investigation, I have put a text file and zip file alongside one of the catalog zips and the new files backup.
If I rename the catalog zip, it doesn't back up.
If I extract the catalog and rezip, it does back up.

So it would appear to be a problem with the zip files generated by Lightroom and Syncback choosing to not back them up.

Solved- the zip files have the temporary attribute and as such Syncback was ignoring the files. Unticking the default "Do not copy files marked as temporary" resolved the issue.
