Syncing files from server to server via PC, efficient?

Post by Spearfish8967 »

I have (2) file servers and a PC. A simplified network map below.

Router
----Synology
----TrueNAS
----PC

I can mount a TrueNAS SMB share on my Synology and copy files to the SMB share via Synology File Station, but I like the flexibility and features of Syncback. I use Synback to copy and sync data to my external drivers (cold storage), along with my PC to Synology. I love to see the Preview before files are actually synced, plus a report after sync.

Question is, is it efficient to run Syncback on my PC to sync between the Synology and TrueNAS server? When using this method, are the files being routed through my PC before the final destination? Say I am syncing files from Synology to TrueNAS, are they going from Synology -> PC -> TrueNAS?
