Slow Dropbox upload speeds

Post by frostyofthenorth »

Hi everyone,

Long-time SyncBack Pro user here. It's probably been over 15 years now (I've lost track)! Currently using version 11.3.124.0.

Due to the nature of our business, we use SyncBack to upload 15-20 GB of data to Dropbox daily using the built-in Dropbox integration. Everything has been working well for several years except that the transfers are very slow. From my calculations, the SyncBack > Dropbox transfers operate at about 1/3 of the speed that Speedtest.net shows.

I assume that SyncBack is using the Dropbox API, which will have some overhead, but 1/3 of the speed is a dramatic difference.

Are they any clever tricks to improve these transfer speeds, short of using the Dropbox app or website? Using the Dropbox app isn't much of a solution for us, since we need to automate the process as much as possible -- like clicking on a SyncBack profile). The majority of the daily transfers to Dropbox are large (4-6 GB) Zip files, so we're not talking about many files, just a handful of large files.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
